Our story
A barn built for practice
The Yoga Barn is a well-equipped Iyengar yoga studio in a beautifully restored heritage barn, just ten minutes west of Charlottetown.

The barn & the setting
Set on a picturesque homestead in Warren Grove, the barn looks out over the North River and a meadow of wildflowers. On warm evenings the big double doors open to a grassy breeze and birdsong; in cooler months it’s a quiet, warm refuge. With ample parking and a calm, rural feel, it’s a setting that no urban studio can offer — and an ideal place to study and practise yoga.
Meet Charles Sanderson
Charles is the founder of The Yoga Barn. He began practising Iyengar yoga in 2010 and was soon drawn in by its depth as an art, a science, and a philosophy. Between 2015 and 2019, he travelled to India to study with senior Iyengar teachers Rajiv and Swati Chanchani, and he continues his mentorship and intermediate studies with Senior Iyengar Yoga Teacher Deborah Lomond in Nova Scotia.

He holds a BBA and a B.Ed from UPEI, and cut his teeth teaching swimming lessons and Sunday school in his youth. That love of teaching shows: his classes are warm, often funny, and genuinely rewarding — challenging when you want it, gentle when you need it, and welcoming whatever your experience.
